Our historical museum – over 500 years of history of tiled fireplaces

Many historical tiled stoves and fireplaces, in German “Kachelöfen”, such as the “Rococo” Kachelofen or the Kachelofen in the classicist style, can be viewed as part of the Upper Austrian exhibition “ARBEIT WOHLSTAND MACHT” at Lamberg Castle in Steyr. If you would like to experience even more history and cultural highlights of the world of tiled fireplaces, you are welcome to visit the historical part of our tiled stove and spa showroom. Our showroom contains the world’s largest collection of historical tiled stoves and fireplaces. Unique and artistic one-of-a-kind pieces such as traditional wedding stoves or hunting room fireplaces reflect the heritage and culture of different time periods.

For five family generations, tiled stoves and fireplaces of different styles (baroque, classicism, etc.) have been collected, preserved and exhibited with much love and care. Our collection thus represents over 500 years of history of the Sommerhuber ceramics manufactory and the fascinating development of the cultural heritage of tiled stoves. The tiled stove museum is a member of the Association of Upper Austrian Museums and is a cultural highlight of the region. You are welcome to visit our museum free of charge during regular opening hours.
