A true treasure has been unearthed at the Sommerhuber tiled stove museum in Steyr – the tile Tapetenmuster, first made in the Renaissance era around 1570 in Steyr. At the time, hunting castles and country houses were fitted out with "Tapetenmuster" tiles. The current designs combine up-to-date technology with traditional handicrafts – such as the integrated heating bench – and the tradition of tile making to create a surprisingly contemporary tiled stove.
"Tiles have the decisive advantage of heat storage and, thanks to their special mass, can evenly control the heat flow."
