We have been refining our craft for more than 500 years

Since 1491, ceramic tiles and tiled stoves for the storage of warmth have been produced with loving care and a lot of technical know-how in Steyr in Upper Austria. The knowledge was preserved, passed on and refined from generation to generation. Today we produce heat storage ceramics for living areas and SPAs. Quality and high standards guide every one of our production steps, from the selection of materials to your finished tiled stove, tiled fireplace or SPA..

Ceramics made by experts

Our employees are not artists but craftsmen –
all lovingly manufactured ceramic tiles are unique to form a one-of-a-kind unit.

“My craft consists among other things of giving every tile uniqueness and the tiled stove as a whole a particular shine. This is done by means of a rhythmic pouring movement. But what looks easy requires a technical accuracy and maximum precision. But the nicest thing about my work is the professional and personal exchange with my colleagues.”

Mr. Kahr, glazing shop

“For me, painting means the combination of technical know-how and creative development. I already acquired the knowledge of techniques relating to the painting on ceramics during my apprenticeship with Sommerhuber. For me, the art of carefully giving every tile a history lies in calmness and accuracy.”

Mrs. Pleil, painting

“Before a tiled stove leaves our house, I submit it to a final quality check. I spread out all tiles to assure myself that the surface, the glaze and the dimensions comply with our high standards. I love working with my hands and what is very important to me is the evenness of the individual tiles and their ceramic surface.”

Mrs. Pils, picking and packing

Warmth provider & natural product: ceramics

A high-quality product starts with the environmentally conscious selection of materials. Every one of our tiles is manufactured by our master craftsmen using the natural elements of earth, water, fire and air. Ceramic consists of clay with additives such as kaolin, quartz sand and minerals. After the molding, the tile is coated with a glaze and fired. By means of this firing process the glaze produces a glass-like protective coating which we call ceramic surface. Those steps enable the porous ceramic tile to store a high amount of heat. The pleasant warmth is, for many hours, distributed to the living space and gently warms the body and objects in the room.
